Cold Storage Tracker is a privacy-first Bitcoin portfolio tracker for manual records and public blockchain data.
What Cold Storage Tracker stores
Cold Storage Tracker stores your portfolio records on your device. iCloud activity sync
is optional and requires your permission on each device. When you enable it, Portfolio
Accounts and Recorded Activity sync directly through your private iCloud database.
This includes account names and transaction amounts, dates, prices, fees, notes,
and linked transfers. Portfolio records do not pass through servers operated by
Cold Storage Tracker.
Cold Storage Tracker does not require you to create an account, does not require exchange
logins, and does not sync your portfolio to a Cold Storage Tracker account.
Cold Storage Tracker is not a cryptocurrency wallet and cannot create, import, store, or
use private keys, seed phrases, or signing credentials. It cannot send, receive,
exchange, transfer, or custody Bitcoin or any other virtual currency.
Optional iCloud activity sync
Watch-Only Sources, addresses, extended public keys, App Lock, and other device
preferences are excluded from activity sync. Account and activity contents use
CloudKit encrypted fields. Advanced Data Protection provides end-to-end protection
for those fields when enabled for your Apple Account. Some iCloud metadata remains
protected by standard encryption. The app cannot verify your Advanced Data Protection
setting or promise end-to-end encryption for all iCloud data. See

Turning activity sync off keeps your records on this device and leaves the existing
cloud copy in iCloud. Earlier app versions may have synced portfolio records
automatically; this version retains existing local data and the old cloud copy,
and asks for permission before enabling the new activity sync. The new sync shares
records already present on updated devices; records kept only in the older cloud
sync are not automatically downloaded by this version. Changing Apple Accounts pauses syncing to avoid
uploading the previous account’s records to a different account.
While sync is on, iCloud may send the app silent notifications to let it know that
changes are available. These notifications do not show alerts.
Public blockchain data
If you add a Watch-Only Source, Cold Storage Tracker sends that Bitcoin address or extended
public key to a third-party blockchain data provider to load its balance and transaction
history. This happens when you open that source in the app (unless it was loaded within the
last minute), when you tap Refresh, or when you run a Shortcut that refreshes it. Saving a
new source does not send it by itself.
Single addresses are looked up with mempool.space. If mempool.space is unavailable, the app tries Blockchair.
Extended public keys are looked up with Blockchair.
These requests go directly from your device to the provider, not through the Cold Storage
Tracker market data proxy. The provider receives the address or extended public key, your
device’s IP address, the time of the request, and standard technical details that iOS
includes with web requests. An extended public key lets the provider derive the addresses
in that wallet and see their balances and history. The name, notes, and derivation path you
give a Watch-Only Source are not sent. Each provider handles this data under its own
privacy policy.
Market data
Cold Storage Tracker loads BTC/USD prices and chart history from a market data proxy
operated by Cold Storage Tracker and hosted on Cloudflare Workers. The proxy gets prices
from Coinbase when available, with Gemini and Binance.US as backups, and uses Stooq only
as a fallback for daily history. When the proxy answers, those providers receive the
request from the proxy, not from your device. Cloudflare, which hosts the proxy, receives
your device’s IP address and basic request details in order to deliver the request.
If the proxy does not respond in time or returns an error, the app requests the same
public price data directly from Coinbase, Gemini, and Binance.US. For daily chart history,
it may also use Stooq if those providers fail. When this happens, the provider that
receives the request can see your device’s IP address, the time of the request, standard
technical details that iOS includes with web requests (such as the app and iOS version),
and which BTC/USD price or chart period was requested.
Market data requests, whether sent to the proxy or directly to a provider, contain only
the BTC/USD pair and the date or time range needed. They do not include your account
names, balances, recorded activity, notes, addresses, extended public keys, or any account
or device identifier created by Cold Storage Tracker. The same requests are made by the
app’s widgets and by Shortcuts that refresh the price. The app keeps the most recent price
on your device so the app and widgets can show it without a new request.
Data provided by Gemini when Gemini is the active market data feed. Provider
names are used only to identify data sources. Cold Storage Tracker is not endorsed by,
sponsored by, or affiliated with Coinbase, Gemini, Binance.US, Stooq, Cloudflare,
mempool.space, Blockchair, or Apple.
Backups and device security
Device backups are separate from activity sync and may contain app data even when
activity sync is off. If you use the JSON backup feature, the exported file contains
your unmasked portfolio records and is stored wherever you choose to save it.
If you explicitly choose to include public identifiers, that export also contains
values such as addresses or extended public keys. Privacy Mode does not encrypt backups.
Cold Storage Tracker may use Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode-based device authentication to
protect access to the app or reveal protected public identifiers. Biometric data
itself is handled by iOS and is not collected or stored by Cold Storage Tracker.
Data sales and tracking
Cold Storage Tracker does not sell your portfolio data.
Cold Storage Tracker is designed to minimize unnecessary data sharing and does not require
exchange account linking to function.
Premium purchases and restores are handled by Apple through the App Store. Cold Storage
Tracker does not receive your payment details.
